Our Services

PAIN MANAGEMENT
The Pain Care Center strives to provide the highest quality in individualized rehabilitation services through an interdisciplinary twenty-one day program designed to treat patients with multiple, complex problems. The scope of outpatient treatment and services concentrate on the individual as a whole: including the mind, body and spirit. An interdisciplinary treatment team will provide an individualized plan of care developed with the patient. The patient is considered to be a member of the treatment team and regularly participates through feedback in team conference. Both comprehensive and modified treatment plans and members of the team are designed depending upon the individual and special needs of each patient. Assessment of the patient’s treatment plan and progress towards goals is an ongoing process. Weekly reassessments are done by The Pain Care Center physician, Physical Therapist, Psychologist and Program Coordinator and are discussed with the patient in team conference.

PHYSICAL THERAPY
The physical therapy staff strives to provide the highest quality of rehabilitation services to all of our patients.  Every patient is thoroughly evaluated by a licensed, experienced physical therapist.  The physical therapist works with the patient to determine goals of treatment and the treatment program.  Duration of treatment varies depending on the severity and duration of the injury and the physician’s prescription.  Treatment goals depend on the desired outcomes of the patient, maximum return of function, decrease of pain and prevention of further injury.  Reassessments are done regularly to determine if goals are being met and if changes need to be made to the treatment plan.  Patients are progressed safely and monitored closely by the physical therapy staff.  Our clinic is comprehensive and includes a large gym with state of the art weight training and cardiovascular equipment, private treatment rooms, and modalities such as ultrasound and traction.

WORK REHABILITATION
Work Rehab’s goal is to offer a highly structured, return-to-work oriented treatment which uses the worker’s involvement in real or simulated work tasks to progressively increase the bio-mechanical, neuro-musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary and psycho-social functions of the individual as its principle means of treatment. Our Work Hardening program addresses the issues of productivity, safety, physical tolerance and worker behavior in an attempt to quickly progress the individual back into competitive employment and concludes with a Functional Capacity Report. The program primarily utilizes realistic work activities in the rehabilitation of the patient’s problems. These duties are simulated in a five day per week, eight hour per day work setting. This Program typically lasts between one to six weeks and each patient is reassessed on a regular basis. Because of the complexity involved in returning an individual to competitive employment; employers, insurers, case managers, and other parties are kept involved through formal and informal meetings as well as regular progress notes and reassessments.

The unique features of the Work Hardening program include an industrial clinic with a realistic work environment, industry specific tools, non-climate control, and the flexibility to accurately simulate any job.

The benefits of the program include the patient’s return to a competitive work environment, accurate assessments of functional abilities, identification of hazards in the workplace, injury prevention and return-to-work procedures, and thorough documentation of all observations, recommendations and stated goals.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
The philosophy of the Behavioral Health Services Division of the Pain Care Center focuses on treating the patient in a holistic manner.  By utilizing an interdisciplinary approach combining best practice principles from physical and psychological domains, individuals receive comprehensive care.  Our treatment interventions use a cognitive-behavioral framework.  Through this approach, patients are taught to challenge irrational and unrealistic thought processes as well as maladaptive behavior patterns.  Patients are encouraged to take an active role in their own health in order to promote durability of treatment following discharge.  Treatment plans are developed for the individual and may include a combination of family, group, individual and marital psychotherapies.  Common presenting problems include chronic headaches/pain, family/relationship conflict, chemical dependency/abuse, anxiety/depression, TMJ, insomnia and stress disorders.  Our program evaluation data demonstrates the effectiveness of the following treatment modalities:
  • Biofeedback
  • Chemical Misuse and Dependency Counseling
  • Family/Relationship Counseling
  • Gastric Bypass Clearance Group Psychotherapy
  • Independent Medical Evaluations
  • Individual Psychotherapy
  • Medication Contracts
  • Mindfulness/Meditation Training
  • Psychological Evaluations
  • Spinal Cord Stimulator Clearance
